Email app unread count

Since a couple of days ago (could have been since the latest software update, not sure) I have had an issue with the email app unread counter.

Usually I have had a number next to the email app icon on the home screen that represents how many unread emails I have across all the email accounts. Since the update the counter disappears when I clear notifications or even just enter then leave the email app. If you click on Settings> Notifications > then click on the text that says "App Icon badges" it shows an animation of clearing notifications and the little number disappearing. That is basically what is happening. When I turn that setting off the number doesnt even appear at all so that didnt fix it.

When I get a new email it displays a counter again but the number doesn't reflect the number of unread emails. It says 5 even though I have 7 unread emails. If I send two emails in a row the number does not increase from 5 as well. Not sure what the 5 is referring to.

I just want the little number to represent the number of unread emails and not disappear even if notifications are cleared. Can someone please help me with this?

I'm now experiencing a similar issue on my Note 8, except I'm not seeing any count at all no matter what settings I have. Pretty frustrating. Seems to have occurred after the last software update, roughly 1 to 2 weeks ago. Anyone have any idea on how to fix?

I'm having the same problem since the last update. New email count is always 11 whether I have 1 or 20 new emails. I can select all and mark as unread and it disappears but as soon as I have the next new email, it indicates 11. Frustrating. Can anyone help?

I'm having the same issue on my phone and my wife's. This happened after the update a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas on how to fix?? Thanks

Same here. No notifications for messages, emails, missed calls, voice mails. NADA. I agree that it started after the latest update.

Definitely from the update. My counter is extremely off. Gives a reading of 756 unread when I have 4. It also arbitrarily will stop notifying me that I have unread emails. Other 3rd party apps have been failing to notify me after the update a couple weeks ago no matter how many times I reset my notifications. I have a Galaxy S8

I use TypeMail and it works fine. I have 2 accounts with a widget for each on my home screen and both have the correct number of unread emails in each one.

I have an S8 Active, I don't know if that would make a difference.
