WTF??

Trying to download an 11MB PDF in the Email app. Used to do this sort of thing all the time on my Incredible. It says "This attachment is too large to download over a mobile network. You can download it the next time you connect to a WiFi network."

BS! Where's the setting to override this? I've looked everywhere I know to look.

A pdf file requires Adobe Reader. It's possible that a background download or update of Adobe is being attempted, and the Wi-Fi download setting is turned on in Android Market settings.

I recommend opening Android Market, choose Settings (by tapping the vertical bars icon at the top of the screen) and verify that you don't have the option selected to download large updates via Wi-Fi.

That's the only place where I have seen an option to set Wi-Fi download options...

Re: Email "Attachment is too large to download over a mobile netw

Thanks for the suggestion, Joe, but I do not have wifi-only updates selected in the market. I'm on unlimited data, so these new "data conserving features" are kind of annoying to me.

Also, the phone comes with a standard PDF viewer, and the Amazon Kindle app likewise opens PDFs, so I do not have Adobe Reader installed. I know that's not really the point of your post, just saying. ;)

Any other ideas?

Re: Email "Attachment is too large to download over a mobile netw

The only other suggestion I can offer is to try a different email client app. I got used to K9 Mail on my old Fascinate (due to the better features than the stock email client), so I downloaded it on the Nexus as part of my initial configuration after buying the phone.

I have no issues at all with attachments, pics, or any content at all, using K9 Mail.

Could you upload it to something like Sugarsync, then access it on the phone?

I thought about K9, and I may yet go that route. But I figure there has to be a workaround for this, right? It's Android, for cryinoutloud. If not, I'll explore K9...

I can download it from our webmail portal using the browser just fine, so no need for a sugarsync or equivalent. It's just weird that the mail app won't let me download it. Like, not even "are you sure?" It just says you straight-up can't do that. So not cool.

Usually if I can't download an attachment in the Gmail app, I can get it to download via the browser.

I never download files using the built in manager on my email client. I always use the app "Download All Files" from the Market.
Whenever I download a file from an email, the app will pop up allowing me to use it as my download manager.
You can see if that will help in your case.

Re: Email "Attachment is too large to download over a mobile netw

Thanks for the suggestion cdf3, but DAF did not work. The mail app doesn't have a "preview" option -- the button that normally would say "download" just says "info" and when you press it, you get the message I posted earlier about the attachment being "too large." DAF didn't activate.

I have the same problem, it won't let me download a larger file. I talked to my carrier and I have unlimited data so it's Google's or Samsung's error. Some friends at work have Galaxy 2's and they can DL larger files with no problem at all.

Has anybody had a chance to fix this issue? Nature of my work involves lots of large attachments, and ever since I swithed to ics it is just like a pain in my axx.
