Email autofill from contacts is not working on a new machine (Note 9)

[Android Central Question]

I've moved from Galaxy S7 to Note 9 and the email autofill feature in Gmail app is not working. I've made sure that contact permission is on and I've cleared cache and restarted the machine. Nothing works. What am I missing???
