Email Deletes

I have a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0. I have two email accounts through my ISP. I set up both accounts set to "Delete from server" "Never". The alternative is "Delete from server" "When deleted from inbox."

When I get an email on my Nexus 5, if I delete it, it is gone from the server and when I log onto my computer at home I have no email. If I let the emails sit on my Nexus 5, download them to my inbox at home, then I can delete them from the Nexus 5 without losing them.

The default seems to be to delete the message from the server when it's deleted from the inbox whether you choose "Never" or not.

Any help?

Currently it sounds like it won't delete opened items from your server if they were opened somewhere besides the phone. I would try a different email app on your device. It could be possible that this is unavoidable but trying another app is free and only takes a little set up. I use MailDroid and I know it offers a similar setting, but for me if I don't want it on my device I don't want it.

My email app is GMail which is the one Android 5.0 directed me to use. On my desktop computer I use Microsoft Outlook.

You can use any app you want for email, they just give newbies something until they figure out there's something better. LOL. Seriously there are better apps. Have you tried a different one to see if you get the same result?
