Email download issue

I have several Verizon email accounts. With one account, the emails are very slow to load in the stock email app. Last week, it was 'spinning' for 6 hours until they loaded. I can access the emails fine using the Verizon app and they load fine in Outlook on the PC. This issue started about 6 months ago on my Note 4. It is now happening on the Note 7 and also happens on my Galaxy tablet. I've deleted and re-added the account and cleared email cache, but didn't fix. Verizon tells me it's an email app problem, which I don't buy but as other Verizon email accounts load fine. Samsung tells me it's a Verizon issue. Any thoughts?

Welcome to Android Central! How far back is the account syncing? Can you change it to only the last 30 or 15 days? Does that account have a ton of emails in it?

It's set for 100 emails right now. The last time it synced on the phone was 7 hours ago. The tablet synced 10 minutes ago.

What happens if you remove the other Verizon email account, and just keep the one that's been slow--does that change anything?

I had added this account to my new Note 7 and it did the exact same thing as it did on my Note 4, as well as my Galaxy S2 tablet.

Dangit!:-[

I wonder if there's something saved in that email account that's causing the sync to run so slow. Maybe try backing up anything important from that account, then completely erase all emails from it. Then add the account again, and see if it still takes forever to sync.

Not sure. Outlook on Windows is a very different program than the phone's stock Email app, so it could be a number of things.

Great! Come back to us in a few days and let us know if it still seems to be working right.
