Email Issues with hotmail and Yahoo!

Ever since I upgraded to Froyo 2.2 on my Droid X, I've had nothing but issues with my yahoo and hotmail accounts. When I try to access either account, it does nothing and it automatically bounces back to my home screen. I tried deleting both accounts and hotmail is still giving me the same problem and yahoo will not allow deletion. I tried reboots to no availability and no success. Is anyone else having these problems and found a way to repair it?

UPDATE: Ok guys I fixed the problem. Apparently as we all know, froyo has its bugs and issues so things like this are expected to happen from time to time until all the kinks are ironed out by the manufacturer. Lucky me, I remembered I have an app I installed a couple months ago called "My backup Pro". All I did to correct the email problem is backup all my data and applications to my SD card, and I performed a factory default on my Droid X. After the factory default was completed, I ran the email setup again from froyo, and I restored the data and applications back to the phone using "My backup pro". The entire process took 30-40 minutes and I had to configure a few apps, but nothing serious. Guys, if you don't have a backup source, I strongly recommend "My backup Pro"...worth every penny :)

tito4u,

the Yahoo mail app has A LOT of bugs and never ran well for me. It also liked to fire itself up and never close even if I manually logged off.

With that said, I will also offer you the same advice I have given a couple times recently.

FLASH your phone back to stock before you upgrade to a new OS. Then reinstall all your favorite apps. Installing over old settings and apps with all their upgrade patches is a recipe for conflicts every time. If you memory serves you well and you have owned smart phones before, you will recall everyone's world goes to pot everytime a new OS comes out. This is because they don't flash the phone before installing the new OS.

xelhandroid,
I did flash my phone back to stock and I added all my favorite apps just like you suggested above. The new 2.2 froyo was working good for a couple days until this morning. Not sure what may have caused this problem, but its becoming a nuisance. I never had this kind of problems before with my BB Storm with emails. I think I'll give Verizon a call and see what they recommend. I just hope I don't have to factory restore the phone because it took me hours to configure the phone to my liking. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I don't use Hotmail but I do use Yahoo and have had no problems at all since the upgrade. I washaving some trouble with an Outlook account that I had but after the update I was also able to get that one fixed.

A former Storm owner!! Me too! I ran the 9530 from the beginning. Wow, that was a journey...LOL.

Do you have Yahoo synced with your phone OR are you running the Yahoo mail app?

The mail app is awful. I deleted it. But if you just sync the email with your phone you shouldn't be having any problems.

I've used Gmail synced on the BB Storm and Droid X without any issues.

I should have thought of that. That's a very good idea. I'm not using the mail app at all. I sync right of with the device.

I just gave a shout to my friend who has Yahoo sync with her phone. No issues. But I did flash her phone before the upgrade.

I am not a fan of Outlook. After all the free services began to offer calendars and upgrades I ditched it.

I would love to get rid of the Outlook, Its a pain in the butt! My work still uses it and am stuck with it for now at least.

Yes...I am a previous pearl, Storm 9530 and Storm 9550 user. I loved the Blackberry, but it became an old mans toy and the Droid X is just more fun. To answer your question, I am not using the yahoo app, just syncing from the OS setup has worked prety good for me. BTW - I fixed the email problem. Look at my original post above to see what I did to fix it.

Thanks again for your quick response to the issue.

Rigs49,

Syncing occurred under your email icon, where you manage accounts and sync email services directly to your phone. The same way you synced the gmail account you used to set up your Droid.

Yahoo also makes a messenger app and a Yahoo mail app attachment for the messenger program. I tried it out and did not like it. It didn't run well for me so I uninstalled it.

Hope that clears it up.
