Email not syncing and dissappearing.

I have my email set to sync every 30 minutes and it has on occasion but probably only once a day. I used to get it on my pre before I even got it on my computer. It only syncs when I go into the e-mail now.

Also, my e-mail seems to clean itself out every day without me doing anything. I have checked my settings and I'm not seeing a setting for this. They just delete on their own and sometimes they are needed. This is a HUGE problem if anybody can help me please. For instance, I have work updates I need to forward on to other shifts and if I'm not working I'm not usually at my desk so I'll just send them out over the phone. When I've gone to do this, after knowing I received the e-mail, it is gone. Nowhere to be seen. I've also saved drafts that have dissappeared. Funny thing is that my sent mail seems to be staying there so I've been having to send my updates to myself to send out later (after verification).

I just checked again to see if I missed an auto purge and I don't see anything like that anywhere. Please help.

Which email application are you using, and what type of email account is it syncing with? Most commonly email applications will only show undread emails, or emails within the last 24 hours.

If you have it set to every 30 minutes, and when it tries to sync it fails because you're doing something that hogs the internet or simply have no connection, it fails and waits 30 more minutes.

I had no idea it would only keep 25 hours worth of mail. I'm coming from the Pre and it would keep the mail until I deleted it or I could set it up to delete my non work account on a schedule. I am using the regular mail that came with the phone for 2 pop accounts and my gmail.

I know that it is not syncing properly though. I work 3rd and have used task manager to close out everything before going to bed. I can wake up 4 hours l later and still not have received anything and my phone is showing 3G service.
I'm desperate for this to work. Do not want to go back to Pre. I love everything else about the epic.

It normally only --displays-- emails within 24 hours, shouldn't be deleting anything. Also if you're killing the service in task manager, you'll want to open the email app when you want it to start syncing again and do a manual sync to "jump start" it. If you add the power widget, it gives you a button to turn of syncing, but allows the mail app to continue running. There's a nice article on the main android forum here that tells you the importance of not killing too many tasks.

Try the K9 client from the market, this has worked much better for me. I don't think the built-in client syncs properly (maybe just IMAP? Maybe just self-signed IMAP?) Either way it's broken somehow.

Ok, so my email is supposed to stay open all the time then? Any idea where the messages go after it quits showing them? Ive been refreshing all morning waiting for an email and out was never coming on. Finally installed K9 and they all came in when I put my server info on there. Out actually downloaded on both programs. That was weird after ive been trying all morning.

I may need to start a new topic but does anybody know if the Group update will give us the ability to send contacts straight to voicemail? I had to download an app but it still rings a half a ring. Enough to wake me up. I like to send all work calls to voicemail but still be able to get my kids calls.

Sorry about all the questions. Never had this much trouble setting up a phone before.

You don't have to have the email application as the active program (as in it's what you're seeing on the screen) just running in the background. You mentioned you were killing some apps using task manager, just meant not to kill your email.

for the phone calls, I use callfilter. It doesn't have the ability to block groups but you can go through your contacts and choose who to block.
