Hello all

Just got a new Xperia Z3, very happy with it. I am having one issue though that is driving me mental.

I would like to have the email app give me notifications in the status bar, but I would prefer the phone not to make a notification sound for emails. In other words, sms message yes a noise please, but emails just something in the status bar and no sound. On my previous phone I was able to set this quite easily but there seems to be no way to do this on the Xperia - the email app just has a switch for "notifications", the sound tab under settings just has one setting for notifications on or off and under the apps tab on settings there isn't an option for sound.

I've tried a couple of third party mail clients but none of them play nicely with my institution's rather strange exchange setup.

I realise this might sound like a minor detail but it's driving me mental :-)

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Rob

If you use the yahoo mail app you have the option to choose no sound with gmail as well I think

I prefer those apps than the mail app came with the phone

Just go to the following link and downlod the Gmail 5.0 version (latest lollipop one) and also the Exchange Add-on apk, with this you can have ALL your email accounts managed by the Gmail app and on it, you can set to Silent the notification Sound, I think that will cover everything you are asking for.

I have been trying to figure this out because for the most part the email app on this phone seems excellent.

You need to go into the settings menu, then select the address you want to change from the top. Once in there, touch the word notification. Select "none" for the ringtone.
