I've had this phone since launch and never thought to ask this question till now.

I have email accounts with Timewarner Roadrunner. I also have a Gmail account. Currently I have my RR email forwarded to my Gmail account. It seems to work just fine since I can filter spam and such from the Gmail app. BUT, the only thing I don't like is if an email comes from my RR account, and I want to reply to it, it is sent from my Gmail account. I'd like it to go back from the account it was originally sent to. Make sense? Any ideas? Thanks!

My suggestion would be to send a email to yourself from a PC to your RR account and when u receive it on your phone reply to it then check it on the PC and see if that's what you were hoping it would be. I hope that makes sense, and I hope it helps. Only idea I have since I don't use RR.

I believe you can change this on the google account from the PC. I have an Optimumonline account forwarded to my gmail, and when I reply to an email sent to that account, it comes from that account, not my gmail one...

I did that already. I know that the email when replied goes from my Gmail account and not the original RR account. I know there must be a way. Thanks though.

Do you know how?

It appears to me if you access gmail on the PC, go to settings> accounts and import> then add the rr email address, then there's a option for a reply to address. I would try playing around with that. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

GL!

Daughter has hijacked my PC. If you still need this, I will post it tomorrow. Sorry!

Whenever you get a chance. I see all the settings, but I'm not sure which ones to activate or change or whatever. Thanks!

CDEFG,

I have just done this to confirm that it does indeed work.

1. Sign into Gmail on PC
2. Go to Settings (top right)
3. Click on Accounts and Import
4. Go to third option "Send mail as" and click on "Add another email address you own" then enter your RoadRunner email address, then do the verification process
5.A new option will popup just below where you clicked "Add another email address you own". It says
When replying to a message:
Reply from the same address the message was sent to
Always reply from default address

Be sure to highlight "Reply from the same address the message was sent to".

It may take it a few minutes to sync with your phone. Once it syncs you will have the option to switch the "sent from" address, with all the email addresses that you have listed. But if you highlight that option you should never have to worry with switching it.

If you need help pm me, but I tried to make those instructions as simple as possible, good luck.

After digging a little more I found Googles write-up on the process, here it is with a linky.

Sign in to Gmail.
Click the gear icon in the upper-right and select Gmail settings and select the Accounts and Import tab.
Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.
In the 'Email address' field, enter your name and alternate email address.
Choose one of two options:
Use Gmail's servers to send your mail (this is easier to set up)
Use your other email provider's SMTP servers (we recommend this option for professional mail accounts or domains). Note for Google Apps users: Depending on your domain2 type, this feature may be disabled by default. Talk to your administrator if you have any questions.
If you choose to use Gmail's servers:

6. Click Next Step >> and then click Send Verification. Gmail will send a verification message to your other email address to confirm that you own it.
7. Open your other account and either click the link in the message Gmail sent or enter the confirmation code in the Accounts section of your Gmail settings.
If Gmail sends a verification email and you didn't receive the it, the message was probably caught by a spam or bulk mail filter in your recovery email system. Try checking your Spam or Bulk Mail folders for a message from account-verification-noreply@google.com to see if the email ended up in there.

Your Gmail address will still be included in your email header's sender field, to help prevent your mail from being marked as spam. Most email clients don't display the sender field, though some versions of Microsoft Outlook may display "From yourusername@gmail.com on behalf of customaddress@mydomain.com." For this reason, if you don't want 'on behalf of' to appear in any of your messages, we recommend using the SMTP servers of your other email provider.

If you choose to send mail through another domain's SMTP servers:
6. Enter the SMTP server (e.g. smtp.domain.com), your username on that domain, and your password for that account. You may also need to adjust your port setting or SSL3 setting (talk to your other ISP4 if you need this information).
7. Click Add account >>
8. Open your other account and either click the link in the message Gmail sent or enter the confirmation code in the Accounts section of your Gmail settings.
Your other email provider has to provide authenticated SMTP support for you to use this option. We'll use TLS5 by default, or SSL if you enable it. Many email services that provide POP6 or IMAP7 support also offer authenticated SMTP support, and you can likely find your SMTP server configuration instructions alongside information about POP or IMAP. Also, this new version of custom 'From:' doesn't work with Yahoo! Mail Plus accounts just yet, but we've reached out to Yahoo! to try to get it working.

OK, I did that. Now do I leave the email forwarded from my RR accounts? If so, then I guess I'm cool.
