Email saying cannot connect to mail server

Hi. I have a HTC OneX+. Email has been working fine. Now will not connect to mail server. Have checked settings. Not sure what else this could be. Need some help in simple terms as not great with all the language.

Hoping someone can help.

You don't say what app you are using and don't give info on type of email account (pop, imap or exchange). Also, have you tried same from from PC maybe the email server that you are using is down.

A lot of people have issues after turning on 2 step verification for email clients such as Gmail. If you have recently turned on 2 step verification this would be why.
