Email sync settings?

I've played with this for the last couple of days, and still can't figure it out... I must be missing a setting, somewhere.

Alright, the Charge has the "Email" app, and 'Gmail" app. I use gmail only, and my gmail account was being pushed automatically to my "Email". That said, my emails show up almost instantly to the email application, but gmail seems to update much less frequently.

Now, I'm assuming that since the email app is updating extremely frequently, it's also contributing (significantly?) to my battery drain. I just set that app to 'never update' instead of the push setting it was on previously. My question really is how in the world I setup my gmail app to auto-sync based on a specified time period (maybe once every 30mins, for example)? I know how to toggle auto-sync on and off, but I don't know how to setup the auto-sync frequency... hoping there is such a setting.

Is there no answer to this quesiton, or am I missing something so noobish that it's not worth the typing time for an answer?

Don't feel bad for missing the seemingly noobish setting... I have the same problem and have looked all over trying to find that magical or mythical setting.

I'm nearly convinced that it simply doesn't exist on this device. I've seen it on the droidx and read articles on other forums about it... but I can't find the option anywhere on the charge.

Well, the guy at Verizon couldn't figure it out either... so ends my quest.

I have a gmail, exchange, and IMAP mail accounts. Exchange and IMAP come in using Email icon, and gmail is using Gmail icon.

I too faced this problem...my solution: I stopped Gmail from syncing altogether in the accounts tab under settings. Then I downloaded k-9 mail to sync gmail. It might not be a perfect solution, but atleast I can control how often it syncs .
