Email Sync..

Here's a good one after Froyo install... All of my email accounts now sync from the server side. In other words, if I download my email to Outlook, it deletes it from the server. When the phone downloads it from the server it leaves a copy on the server.. I do this so I can keep it all in Outlook when I am on the computer.. Just downloaded it with Outlook and when I went to delete it off the phone like I have always done, my email account sync'ed and the emails were gone.. Nice.. Now I don't have to take the extra step of deleting all email off the phone..

Ah, so that's what is going on.
If it would only sync the trash too.
I need to remember to file mail that I want to keep on the phone.
This morning the inbox was empty. I will have to resend myself a few for an upcoming trip.

I noticed that too, and I don't like it. I'd like to be able to keep the mail on the EVO as well as my home computer, but when I download email on my home computer, those emails disappear off my EVO. Any way to keep the emails on the EVO? This started happening post Froyo update.

I've been trouble shooting disappearing mail on my EVO for more than 24-hours...almost non-stop.

My latest suspicion (could change ) is that this is about the 2.2 upgrade. I didn't have phone e-mails disappearing on my previous phone...or on the EVO until just days ago. I did have them disappear when the settings dictated them to do so....but believe me, my EVO settings are now okay.

I'm led to believe that if I don't delete downloaded messages in webmail or Mailwasher...that they will stay on the phone. My ISP says that deleting in webmail always results in messages being deleted on your device. Mailwasher (which I've come to depend on) is now...inexplicably behaving the same way....so I guess I can't use it. I don't view my e-mail on webmail. I use Outlook....and e-mails are downloading to Outlook and not disappearing. No problem with that.

I'm not sure I understand the nuance yet about the difference (i.e. the disappearing issues) between downloading initially on EVO vs. on Outlook.

Am I to understand that if I want the mail to remain on the EVO, that I need to always download first to the device and second to Outlook? Is this the recipe to not having the EVO messages disappear?

This is way too hard, my friends. And again, it came out of the blue save for the fact the Froyo update just occurred.

Thoughts? Help??

I like it.
Some guy was asking earlier how to do this, because he couldn't for the life of himself get things to be the same on both sides.

Now onto the problems...
@kentpavelka : I really don't understand the problem you're having, sorry. Do you just not want e-mails to disappear after you delete them from your computer?

Right now, if I move an email from the evo inbox to drafts it does not get deleted off of the evo when I delete it from the webmail account ( or download the mail to a computer, which clears the inbox of webmail ).
I have not taken the time to try and create more folders in the mail client on the evo.
If that can be done at all.
mark.

The change now is the EVO is now reading the server for all emails. It's not necessarily downloading them until you read them. I think that is why a lot of people are complaining that email both regular and GMail are slow now. Just now I had 26 emails, on my EVO I got home from work, I downloaded them through Outlook (once downloaded they are removed from the server) I refreshed the EVO and they were gone. Try changing the leave messages on server on Outlook and see what happens, just make sure when you do Delete them on the EVO they get deleted on the server, in my opinion one or the other has to delete the mail off the server otherwise, they will just sit there and fill up then shut down your box.. I know I am confusing, and I do apologize for that..

EVO Froyo Email Problems

Me too. After Froyo some, but not all emails disappeared. Not related to whether or not they are still on the server. Out of 50+ emails it kept one from July 22, one from August 1, kept one from noon today, and everything else until 7:30 pm is gone. Have tons of emails on server (using Thunderbird client), but disappeared from EVO. I liked to delete what I want off home computer, but just keep everything on EVO so I always had at least the last week or two worth of emails without worrying about saving, deleting, whatever. Now what, have to manually save everything you might want? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Just to add my voice as well. After FroYo, my emails disappear from my HTC Desire, and I do not like it one bit.

Yes, I want Outlook to delete emails from the server when it's read them on the PC, and yes, I want to keep emails on my mobile device so I can still refer and reply to them when I'm..err..mobile.

Is this a bug or a 'feature'? Either way, I would love to know if anyone has been able to fix this.

In my view this is a major problem. How and where does one file a bug report?

thanks,

Dave

HTC EVO E-Mails Disappearing After Upgrade to 2.2

My e-mails from my ISP's POP Server have been disappearing after a few minutes in my EVO inbox. I deleted and reinstalled my account with no improvement. I brought the phone back to the Sprint Store where they did a reset and reinstalled my e-mail account. It worked flawlessly for about 6 hours but the e-mails began to disappear again.

The settings on the phone are correct. I have set for the server to be polled every 10 minutes. I have selected not to delete from the server.

I also noted that my phone now gets stuck for long periods of time in the landscape mode.

I would appreciate any feedback to help solve this problem

I had none of these problems before I upgraded to 2.2. Is there any way to get back to 2.1?

Disappearing email

I am running froyo on the evo for a week now, just today I contracted the disappearing email disease. My gmail account retains all messages but when they are downloaded to evo they disappear after only a matter of minutes, and when another emial arrives the previous one disappears. No, they are not being sent to Trash, Trash is empty. These are messages that are not even opened. I tried deleting the gmail acct. from evo and setting it up again to no avail. The advaced tech phone help was no help. The store tech was no help other than to suggest a hard reboot. I thought I would be able to find an answer here but not so far. Has anyone has any luck with this. I have looked at all my mail settings and phone setting and all is well with them. What is going on here. I was told that froyo is causing a lot of little problems, is this one of them and why now after it worked fine for a week or more.

Whoa, I think I found the answer, from the Home screen, Menu/Settings/ Accounts and Settings. Make sure Background data and Auto synch are checked. As soon as I checked them both I got my emails on evo and they are stayng put. The auto synch will synch google and since I use google email maybe that was the problem, seems to be OK now.
