email vs gmail

i only have a gmail account and its personal stuff. i'm just trying to figure out which is the better app. if its email that would be good so i can use the messaging app

This is the same question as you asked on other post, wouldn't it been easier to just post there without starting another thread? The diffrence would be the same.

not necessarily as the other thread was on the captivate forum. and now i have a droid x. they have 2 different stock email applications

there is a slight difference but overall the theme is the same. if you have a problem with it stop clicking on it. you're just moving the thread to the top of the list which is keeping it in view.

if you don't have anything helpful to add to the conversation why talk at all

No disrespect intended but just trying to understand what type of answer you are looking for, I thought I was able to explain the break down of how the accounts work. Also i have learned that you don't get very much feedback when you post the same topic... Just a simple fact..

But anyway, basically the email and Google app is basically the same app, one monitors all email and text apps but Google app only checks Google Account. If you are only have one account and that is Google then the Google app is all you need to worry about, now if you have yahoo or gMail accounts or any other account other than Google then the email or Messaging box could be useful.

.... I just use popserver type email , I dont even sync with gmail cuz its linked to popservermail and thus just duplicate stuff. :)

oooooppps !! now this thread is back at the top of the pile again :p

Honestly if you want it to all be aggregated into one place you can just stop notifications for GMAIL and add your gmail via pop3. Why Moto didnt add GMAIL to the Messaging app is beyond me. Yes it has its own app but why not aggregate it all into one place. If I can just use one app for it all then I would. Instead you have to do something that it wasnt natively meant to do.

Both... My messages and Emails goes off constantly. I'm a very important person.

Honestly, I am curious about this as well...

Does the native email allow pinch to zoom or at least display emails to the width of the screen?

I just find it frustrating (in the gmail app) that emails are essentially shown in their original size and usually require you to scroll up, down, left, and right. I just would like to see emails the way you would look at a website in the browser. Get an overview and then double tap/pinch to zoom to the areas of the email that are relevant. Is it this way if you add gmail to the native email rather than using the gmail app?

What happens to contacts etc. if you delete the gmail app and use the native email with gmail?

I'm new to Android and am curious.
