Email woes

I'm running into an annoying problem with my email. When I delete messages from my POP email account from the phone older messages are downloaded from the account. These are messages that have already been read. Now my on phone message count is over 1000 new messages.

Anyone have any ideas how to stop this crazyness?

Pending on your email host I would use IMAP instead of POP.

I'll try blowing away the account on the phone and see if I can use IMAP. I can only guess how much memory is being used by all those messages.

I finally got around to removing and re-adding my email account. IMAP didn't work at all but POP did and my problem went away. Not sure what caused it but there it is.
