Email won't print to my canon WiFi printer

I can print documents/photos from my Samsung galaxy note 9005 to my canon mg5600 thru the canon app but I can't get it to print an email either direct from gmail/Hotmail or the email app. It defaults to mg5600 cloud print then fails with error msg: 'unable to print'. I am unable to setup Google cloud print. It just will not work from my phone or from the printer itself. Any ideas please?
