I'm a former bb user, new to android. I've noticed that when i delete my messages from my gs3, they are also removed from my computer. How do i prevent this? I only want to delete my messages on my phone, not my computer.

I'm a BB convert as well and I believe the gmail app is a direct "patch" to gmail on line. Anything deleted from that app, is also deleted from gmail on line.
The BB email client was not. It's a "stand alone" email app or program.
Additionally, I think (an android GOAT should clarify) email from the gmail app is not on your phone, your phone is "seeing" your gmail web page. I think!!!

If you use Outlook, can't you choose an option to leave a copy on the server. I use the generic mail app as I initially got a Gmail address so that I could use my GS3.

Yeah...... That option is there. I just assumed OP was using the native gmail app
