HELP!

a friend of mine emails me from outlook to my outlook exchange.....he has a digital signature on it....i can open it but i can not respond to it from my S4....Why....it asks me to verify signature then stops....i attached a pic from my outlook on my desktop.....

I wish I could help more. I have no issues opening and responding to signed email using Gmail on my S4, but I don't have any Exchange accounts setup on mine. What email client are you using, the built-in email app?

I could use a new tent...I'll have to check out that sale!

The only thing I can think of to try is a different browser (I am assuming you are using stock). Try Chrome or Firefox.

My guess actually is that the root certificate to validate the "ford.com" cert using to sign the email isn't present on the S4, and therefore can't verify the validity of the digital signature. Now, even if this is the case, you should still be able to reply to the message...but maybe there's a setting somewhere in the email client? (something to the tune of "ignore certificate errors")? I honestly don't know. I have a vast amount of experience with this sort of thing at the desktop level, but as I mentioned, don't use it on my phone.

I can tell you that trying to add a root certificate to Android for certificate validation is MUCH more of headache than it should be. I've worked with this in the past trying to get authentication for one of our websites to work.

Maybe something like Touchdown would work better? It's not free, unfortunately, but it does have a 30 day free trial, and is supposed to be one of the best apps for Exchange email on Android devices.

Please take down that picture and reupload it with the email address blurred out, for your own protection and the other email you are receiving.

When you setup your exchange account on your phone, there is an option called either accept client certificate or accept any certificate(maybe both). It may need to be checked off if it is not already.

You may also have to import the certificate which is a pain.

No, when it comes to Exchange support, IOS is much better at it. As mention earlier, 3rd party app Touchdown (20 dollars)is best for exchange on Android. It has a trial for it.

They can do it for you on the exchange server as long as your company permits it.

It depends on what your company allows. It *may* be possible to setup an auto-forward rule yourself in Outlook, or it may only be able to be set on the server, in which case you'd need to contact your Exchange admin.

I'd like to confirm this "problem". I'm in tech support and an exchange specialist.
The problem is that when you receive a signed email on the S4 from an exchange account, you are asked to "Verify Signature" by clicking the button at the bottom of the email. When you do this it gives a message "download completed", "The digital signature on this email is valid and trusted".
If you try and reply or forward the email, you get "Error. Unable to sign or encrypt message. Certificate not installed".
It's like it's trying to sign the email I'm sending, which I don't want. I just want to reply to the signed email.

Replying or forwarding the email in outlook or on a blackberry or Iphone isn't a problem. I haven't tried on other Android phones yet.
Any solutions would be great.
