Emails not "pushing" to device

I have been receiving my emails normally via Gmail itself (the website), however, on the mail app on my Rezound, I am constantly not receiving them! I will manually tell the device to sync and sometimes it works, but most of the time it says it synced but the new emails do not display in my inbox. I have also turned off auto-sync and turned it back on and the same thing happens. Any idea what might be causing this?

Are you using the stock Gmail app or the stock Email app? Gmail tends to work where stock email doesn't. If you put in your Gmail account during setup it probably auto setup in Email vs Gmail.
 
Verizon had set it up under the stock email app. I did open just the Gmail app and found my emails sitting there....I deleted the account through the stock email and ended up setting it up as a regular (I'm forgetting the terminology at the moment) email account and that seems to have worked. It seems as though the email and gmail apps don't want to play nice with one another
