Hi there. I have a note 5. Ive had it for about a month. I keep getting emergeny calls only. I have put my sim card into an iPhone and it works. I even bought a new sim card yesterday as well. Ive tried to search for Networks pick my provider. Its not on airplane mode. Uhhh, I have tried just about everything I have read. I have also talked to my provider, I thought maybe my IMEI was black listed, It's not. So whats going on here? My phone is brand new. Not even a month old. This is really getting under my skin. Also, I have factory reset.

Oh also, This is what is weird. Last night it worked. For about 3 hours...then I went to bed, and woke up to the same problem. It's driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.:'(

Welcome to Android Central! Are you stuck on the lockscreen, or are you on the homescreen, and there's a notification saying Emergency Calls Only?

Are you in an area where you might be Roaming away from your carrier?

Home screen, I can't call out, can't recieve calls. No texts. Nothing. Can use it for WiFi and also have full signal.

When I click on Bell it says unable to connect.. also says unregistered sim now. before it said emergency calls only.

I share an account with someone, and their phone is active and working. and Like I said, if I put my sim card into their phone, it works.

I would suggest you need you need to go to your carrier and have them activate your phone to work with your SIM card.

Ask your carrier for a replacement phone. If they can't or won't, then contact Samsung for warranty replacement. It's probably not worth pursuing this issue too long, and the longer you wait, the less chance you can get an easy replacement through your carrier store.

Based on what you have described/actions taken you have tried just about all possible corrective measures, it sounds like you may have a bad device. I am guessing you are not able to manually select your carrier settings to force it to try to connect.

Also to both people having this issue:
-If the device is unlocked are you able to use another carrier sim and connect to that carrier's network?
-What carrier are you on?
-What country/region are you both in? (does not have to be exact location just looking for possible common factors)

Cheers,

Something else, If you live where they have Best Buy w/Samsung Embedded Shop or a Samsung store you could ask them to try reflashing your firmware in case of a bad radio stack component (Firmware) that said and based on what the OP has already done I am leaning toward a possible bad unit or failing radio component (hardware) You never know tho..

Cheers,
