Emoji's on messages not working

[AC Question]

Since the recent update for the note 4, the Emoji's on messages are not working, it states ' unfortunately messages has stopped'. This has beended annoying. Because if you try to add an emoji atthe end of a message it comes up with themessage above then delete's the text also.
Any advice please

What about just posting the symbols that make up the smileys, like : )?
