Any idea on what this is going to be like. I hope they go back to the nothing like any other android formula they had with 4.x

There are entirely to many basic ui that all look and feel the same that includes 5.0. They went for a more stock experience yet that is not what they are known for. If they actually bring it back to emui is, not really android not really iOS. I will gladly switch my carrier just to use the honor 9. I doubt they will, I'm certain they will most likely strip the rest of the emui identity, because it's familiar to other android users they are trying to pick up.

I for one welcome their change and direction towards Android UX. There are lots of EMUI animations/fonts/icons/overall theme that is not stock Android and represents EMUI. That is a safe direction and bet in the Android world.

They all feel exactly the same. That was the best part of emui 4.x, it felt like nothing i have ever used and it was refreshing. especially in a world filled with the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Now emui fits in the same boat as every other basic phone ui that's ever been made. If I want the same thing every time I buy a phone i will just switch to Apple.

Ah yeah, emui4 was definitely unique. I didn't like it personally due to it being such a deviation from other Androids.

Just depends on your preference and I certainly understand your point of view

It was a nice refreshing take on the power of android, I understand that it wasn't the most liked haha.

The honor 8 forum was full of praise and how good it was. As soon as 5.0 came out it turned into a thread of how do I get rid of it, and problems. It felt like a step backwards as far as quality.

I preferred emui 5 myself. Of course with any major update, there are going to be bugs. But they have been good at issuing updates to fix the bugs.

I've really enjoyed EMUI and its updates thus far - I look forward to seeing what they do with 5.1.

5.1 is just an incremental change with no big changes in the UX but adding a phone companion app like the Bixby and HTC Sense Companion.

Hmm! I have yet to use either of those, so this will be interesting! Thanks for the info! :)

Let's hope it's more useful than bixby which I disabled on my s8.

I believe it will be more like the HTC Sense Companion which is not like Bixby and just gives phone optimization tips along with some local stuff as you are out and away. Bixby is a waste, I agree.

That's good to hear. Let's hope that Honor can put together a good quality one in time for the phone release, not a beta like bixby.

They just did a minor update to Bixby. Last night when I went to bed at my usual time. Bixby reminded me to check my alarm for the morning. I just want the voice commands.

I was trying to set a nova action to open Bixby, no luck. The package I could select opened the full tutorial and settings which walks you through the voice recognition and set up. It's going to be really good once it gets going and enabled

The issue I have is them releasing it half-baked. But Apple does similar too ...

This is true, it would have been nice to have it fully functional. They are probably going to do a full release with all features along side the note 8. Probably to help get people excited after the note 7 debacle.

I just hope that they fix the fps placement in the note 8.
