Encrypt does not encrypt SD card?

I encryoted my external microSD card through my s8+ , removed the card and inserted it into my laptop and everything was 100% readible

Where did you purchase from? How old is it? Which brand ?

yes, from the phone biometrics and security sub menu

I figured out the issue. It does encrypt , it just leaves the folder structure intact with file names easily viewable. Kind of stupid to encryot a card but still be able to view file names. I wish bitlocker drives were accessible in android

The file name are viewable but content isn't?
