Hi everyone, I noticed that since I factory reset after oreo there is a message after rebooting that writes the system is encrypted for extra security and requires my pin code, is this new to oreo? Are all phones now encrypted?

Thanks

Encryption is not enabled by default (to my knowledge) . Maybe you did not disable factory reset protection by deleting your Google account before FDR?

Now that you mention it that is possible I believe I elected to start phone by pin every time after restarting not sure if it was that or something else I may have done

Is there any way to change this or this permanent?

What you could try is another factory reset. Before you do it though, delete your Google account. Actually delete any account that you've got on the phone... Samsung, outlook, FB etc. When the factory reset is done don't restore with a previous backup to get it up and running. Do a clean install. A PITA, but maybe worth it?

Thanks for the reply certainly sounds like a PITA lol I guess I'll just put up with the message for now when I reboot, I presume this make my phone more secure?

Honestly never used encryption. A friend of mine who uses his as a work phone had his encrypted for the security his company requires. He says you just get used to the extra step encryption requires.
