Encryption & Search Problems

I just got a new Galaxy S 4 and trying to get everything going. I'm forced to encrypt the phone when I connect to my corporate email account, but after I do my Google phone search no longer finds any apps or contacts on my phone. To test to make sure this was the cause I removed the corporate account and decrypted the phone and voila, now I can find contacts again. Does anyone know how I can have a working phone search AND an encrypted phone? Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: I should mention my corporate email is Microsoft (Activesync/Exchange)
