End NEXT Agreement

[Android Central Question]

So I've had my NEXT device for 14 months.

There are 2 options.
1. Pay $259 to upgrade. (Turn in the device in good physical condition)
2. Pay the $450 to own the device.

So here's the grey area. Is it possible to walk into the store, pay the upgrade fee, hand over the device and NOT upgrade?

Will AT&T only allow me to pay the upgrade fee and turn in the device only if a new agreement is signed?

You can't pay the upgrade fee and just turn it in. You'll need to upgrade to a new phone.

There is no way to get out of the agreement. Just pay what you owe.
