Android Central Question

If I type in my pw incorrectly the pw field wiggles and clears for me to type it in again. However, that is not the problem. When I type in my pw (alpha char password) correctly the screen goes black for a second then the locked screen shows again. Sometimes I get the power off/restart menu instead. But when I try to power off or restart and I type in my pw I go back to the locked screen. Hard reset does not work either, it keeps going back to the lock screen.

Did you flash any Firmware on your device?

Same problem here. Stock phone. I haven't rooted it or flashed it or anything. Tried to restart it but it won't let me without entering the password.

I think you encrypted the device that's why its asking for password

Got on a chat with Verizon and they advised me to restart the phone in safe mode. That seems to have cleared up the problem (though I don't know what caused it!) Hope this helps someone else.

After you got out safe mode its ok?

performing a "soft reset" helped me get around this issue.

i think it may have been the "email" app (the one that "takes all of your control on your phone" extremely intrusive permissions -- when you connect to an exchange server). there was an upgraded needed (don't know if it was the app or on exchange) that seemed to caused this...

i've since removed the account from the email app -- the webmail interface has finally got to the point to be usable (for exchange or whatever MS calls their email services...)
