Energizer Power Max P18K Pop with 18,000mAh battery

The main thing I'd worry about would be the potential for a much bigger explosion or fire if the battery is defective or overheats. It can happen from time to time on any phone (not just problematic ones like the Note7).

That's true -- and their batteries do catch on fire or explode sometimes. Also, we tend to treat our phones differently than our laptops (e.g., leaving our phones on a bed or under a pillow while charging, or leaving them in a hot car by accident). We usually have our phones on our person as well, as opposed to a laptop, which is more likely to be in a bag or sitting on a table.

There's also more chance we'll use some cheap 3rd party cable or charger that might not be up to spec on USB-C, thus increasing the risk for fire (whereas with a laptop, we're often forced to use the charger that came with it).

Of course, I'm not saying this definitely will happen with the phone. It's just a a good idea to remember that batteries have this potential.

All Lithium-Ion batteries in all devices that use them present a risk.
Run this little experiment, take a lithium primary cell like Energizer L91 or a CR123A cell and smash it with a hammer. Do it outdoors, because it will emit a very deadly hydrophloric acid on top of the very pretty blue flame you will see.

The one thing that would realistically help with battery dangers is a removable battery, in any capacity.
A battery does not just blow up, you will see warning signs, such as expanding sides/back of the device. Another sign is it does not hold charge as well. You can just remove and save the device.

Remember the Note 7 disaster?

If there is no factory defect in the aforementioned 18000 mah phone, pretty much the only thing that can set it off is shock. You would have to drop it pretty hard to get a fire.

Agreed. I'm just saying that as the size of a battery increases, so does the extent of potential damage from a defective battery (or defective charging equipment).

I really want this phone. The only thing that could be better if they made it removable. But WTH. I will get it anyway. My original plan was to get LG V20, which I might get anyway. I despise my Samsung S8 Plus. Even with the ZeroLemon extension.

We are surrounded by laptops that have battery packs that are even larger so I am not worried about that greater damage from a defective battery. I am gravely concerned about running out of juice at a critical point.

I had a thought some years ago, what if they made a 20,000 mAh phone? Well, my dream came true. I will probably get two.

What really aggravates me is that phones are like mini-laptops with so many capabilities yet the tiny 3400 or 4300 mAh cells just don't cut it. The resolution is increased from FHD to QHD and beyond.

Definitely give us a rundown about the phone when you get it -- I'm sure there will be plenty of people who want to know!

There's just something sexy about this phone. Is it just me or anyone else like it?Screenshot_20191008-124842_Samsung Internet.jpg looks like it was never released.
