Josh Topolsky, the editor-in-chief of Engadget, is leaving the AOL-owned property, which is one of the largest tech news sites on the Web.

Also departing is Managing Editor Nilay Patel

It likely has quite a bit to do with the recent Huffington Post purchase, since Huffington is taking over most of the content site like Engadget. Perhaps he didn't like the direction the site was being pushed in.

and I'll bet that, in conjunction with the firings, a new confidentiality / no compete agreement was handed out at the same time.

Nilay Tweeted that March 4th was his last day so he had already quit when this came out. The Engadget Podcast has just died which sucks. Im thinking that Phil and Company may have to start doing 2 podcasts a week to make up for the void in my life. Hey it would be nice but probably wont happen. Seriously though I do look forward to what they do next.
