Enhanced messaging on AT&T note 5

For some reason AT&T has disabled this on the Samsung phones they sell....is there anyway to root the phone and get it back on there?

What is enhanced messaging? Why would you use it

Enhanced messaging is basically androids version of I message. So with other android users who have the enhanced messaging, I would be able to see if they've read my text, and I can see when they are replying.
