Epic 4G -- Got questions? Ask them here!

Can anyone tell me if anything happens when you hit the 4g toggle in a non 4g area? I could have sworn last week the phone tried to connect to Wimax but now, nothing happens at all:-(

When you toggle the button the radio actively searches for 4g and when it desnt find a signal it goes into (what I define as) a passive mode. The 3g radio will pick back up and the 4g will only activate when a signal is detected. I honestly leave my 4g radio off unless I know I am in an area known for 4g.

1) Does it cost to use: Sprint Navigation, and ThinkFree Office, etc.? if so how much?
2) I downloaded the Free version of LauncherPro, then deleted/uninstalled but my apps can still now only be accessed by the grey arrow tab at bottom center of my Home screen, how do I fix? I've turned off then on my phone after uninstall, still there. ??? (Before installing, there was a green icon for applications, now not there anymore). Also when pressed and held down empty space on home screen, etc. it would list choices of Sprint Widgets or Android widgets. Now it only says Widgets with a list of them.

Thanks :)

browser help

Hello everyone, I have a strange question but... how do you fully close the browser? Holding the "back" button doesn't seem to work, and I find myself using a task killer to really close the browser instead of movng it to the background. I look forward to your replies!

I never found a way to close the stock browser and always had to close it in the task manager (even though it technically wasn't "running" due to Android just open in the background not using any memory)

Since I've moved to Dolphin HD (definitely recommended), I've discovered that they do allow you to close the browser by asking you if you want to "exit" after backing out far enough...

**edit**

Okay, after thought and by fishing through my memory, I do remember how I would close my stock Epic browser... kinda funky but it worked for me...

1. Surf to your leisure on the stock browser...
2. When you're finished, choose the browser option that allows you to see the windows that are open at the time... (don't remember how)
3. Close all the "windows" that are currently open
4. When you close all of them, the browser will open one up automatically for you, and that one will default to your home page
5. In this new window, hit the back key... since it's a browser window and technically, in that window, you haven't had any browsing history, that browser window will close (as will the entire browser) and voila! -> No more open browser in the background

I know it's a little wordy and 5 steps seems pretty arduous, but it's probably because I explained it in too much detail... it's really very simple and I had it down to a quick and easy 1-2-3 motion before switching to Dolphin HD... and hey, it worked for me, so others may have found and are currently using easier and quicker / simpler methods

1. No.
2. Download Home Switcher and use it to set twlauncher as default.
THANK YOU!! :) Now if I could only figure out how to get the battery to last longer....and I always have WiFi and 4g OFF. Hmmm. :( I KNOW it's a smartphone, but geeez! I have to have it on the charger nearly every single night to keep the battery level full! :(

Another question: Is there any other option to answer the phone on an incoming call, other than having to hold your finger on the contact or number and sliding it up to 'answer' box or sliding it down to 'ignore'? I'd like to just press a quick button to answer rather than the slidey game.

I'm coming from an Evo, and I lived and died by the ability to get email notifications as they came in the stock email program (not gmail). On the Epic, I can't figure out how to get this setting...well..set up. I have 3 emails for business that are crucial for me to receive as they come in.

How do I set this up on the Epic?

Thanks all!! Def lovin this phone more than the Evo. :)
