Epic 4G -- Got questions? Ask them here!

i don't see the relevance of the "DIAF" comment from cr3amy when i commented that i would watch movies on the commute to work.

in the end, he can go F himself.

*cheers* :)

People who don't pay attention while driving make me mad

It did occur to me that you were probably talking about taking mass transit, but I figured the DIAF comment was tongue-in-cheek enough to not start a flamewar ;)

It's cool though, 90% of the time I probably deserve to be told to go F myself. Cheers, bud

Not sure if this question will get answered but why not try here

I have read on other forums that using Task killers for android are bad and do more harm than good in the long run.

What exactly causes them to have negative effects?
What are the negative effects?

Also I have seen in many reviews that the Epic 4g comes with a built in Task Killer/Manager from Samsung, if the task killers actually do cause harm in the long haul would it better off deleting this app from the phone or just not use it.

-how does the music player look since samsung did not include theirs? No landscape coverflow rite? Stock Android?

-how does the screen shapness compare to lcd screens? Does the pentile matrix in AMOLED impact the sharpness of the display? (eg. Jagged text, blurrier graphics)

-coming from a SenseUI device, does it feel like you are missing out in added features?

You just answered your own questions, but coming from SenseUI, definitely not (had the EVO, tried the Vibrant). However, graphics aren't blurrier with PenTile matrix, just the text appears a bit more jagged, but still completely readable.

Bumping this. Good question!

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but what is it like to type on the keyboard and how does the GPU compare to the Evo?

Darn, I checked that thread and it seems like nobody's really talking. Well then, I will see what we can discuss besides built in task killers.

The Epic has one built-in. Its also a sammy widget to tell you how many apps you have running, green= low battery consumption, red= major battery consumption.

The GPU is much better itself than the Evo's. It can display 3-4x more triangles/second than the one with the snapdragon chips.
Keyboards= general descriptions is just the right amount of clickyness. Plastic feel. Most wish it had bubbled buttons and spaced out like a computer keyboard, and not grid format that it is.

Can a Sprint 4G phone still roam on Big Red's network? Very tempted to make the switch especially with the lower rates.

Has anyone done a head to head comparison with the Evo, in terms of:
1) phone speed, and how things run
2) internet connection speed
Looking for some of 'em numbers...
Thanks!

General put-together quality?

I came from owning a Pre to recently changing over to a EVO. It was my first slider phone, and it worked well for a year, but then it started giving out and misfunctioning. (Never got the "Oreo Effect" though...). How does this build quality compare? I'd love to have a true clicky keyboard again, but not if it's going to start being a problem!

Galaxy S series of phones from samsung is their ace brand of phones, I think this is the first slider version of the series though. I knew a lot of people who had the Palm Pre and experienced the unfortunate Oreo Effect. I don't see it happening with this phone though.

What keyboard comes preinstall and how the video quality on youtube video compare to other galaxy s phone

We'll find out tomorrow, but according to reviews, it's actually pretty sturdy.

Really wonder how this compares to MOT and HTC's offerings. Also wonder how compliant Samsung is to the Android SDK spec.
