Epic 4G -- Got questions? Ask them here!

I need an android device in my life. I'm on my girlfriends sprint employee family plan and because the shortage of evo's Ive been stuck with this brick of a BB 8330 curve..... I need and android device Sprint has not given employees the option to buy this device either this hurts because I followed android central thru Crackberry.com and when I saw the EVO specs and it coming out in June I was so excited !!!! I checkthis website everyday for android news and I don't even own one yet. Please choose me for the Epic because I've always had a physical keyboard on my phones back to the first sidekick. And I am pretty sure Sprint is going to make employees wait on the epic its been 4 months since the EVO came out!!!

Sprint in Houston?

I am so tempted to make the switch. But I don't know anyone else with Sprint. Anyone know how reliable Sprint 4G is around Houston? I would hate to drop so much money to get a phone that won't actually make a call.

What advantage will this phone have over the EVO 4G. I have an EVO, and there doesn't seem like there's anything really worth switching for, but then again I'm not a fan of the hardware keyboard.

The AMOLED screen, hummingbird processor with better GPU integration. Its very light. Those are what I can think of for now. I myself have an EVO and may pick this up for a GF. I most likely would hate to love this phone because I hate landscape sliders let alone keyboards. But the screen is amazing on this phone...

Love this phone!

This phone is everything I want! I have the Incredible now and was wondering if it was possible to make the Epic 4G work on Verizon. They both use CDMA and am not sure how that whole unlocking thing works. The keyboard looks so nice to use! I can not wait to at least test this bad boy out.

Just curious, having started my Android love with the Sprint Hero and have grown to like the HTC Sense, how does the Epic feel without it? I played with someone else's Droid X a few weeks ago and it just kind of felt weird and stripped down by comparison somehow...

Looks like a very cool phone. I wonder what the big differences will be between a Samsung Android and a HTC Android?

Epic or X?

I picked up a Droid X on launch day, and I am mostly loving it. I know it is hard to do, but how would you stack these two phones against each other? I live in a fairly good 4G area, and my sis is looking to switch from her ancient winmo Verizon smartphone.

So, if you had to choose, Epic or X, which would you choose? I think 4" is a nice sweet spot.

Sprint has that 30 day all fees will be refunded thing. So no harm in just getting it and trying it out in your area. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know and/or would anyone like to tell me a little about how the landscape keyboard compares to something more compact, e.g. BlackBerry keyboard? I'm very interested in the phone but I've never used a slider keyboard and I'm wary of disliking it... Thanks in advance!

The GPU is much better itself than the Evo's. It can display 3-4x more triangles/second than the one with the snapdragon chips.
Keyboards= general descriptions is just the right amount of clickyness. Plastic feel. Most wish it had bubbled buttons and spaced out like a computer keyboard, and not grid format that it is.

TY. That seals it, I will get the Epic instead of the Evo. If for no other reason than gaming :)

I have a question I hope someone can help with. I have the Sprint Palm compatible car charger, the plug fits the Epic, but will it screw up my Epic by using it?

Does anyone know if the epic supports active sync for exchange? If so, is it better than HTC's EVO ASE? With the EVO, it does not natively sync email subfolders.

I've been having a really hard time deciding between an Evo and Epic. I really like the Evo form and Sense UI. But the Epic has some other nice features like 512MB DDR2 RAM, better video graphics and a better screen, though smaller.

The ideal phone is the Facinate, too bad Sprint will not be getting that phone.

I also don't care too much for a physical keyboard, but I don't mind is so long as I don't have to use it to edit text. So here is my question. How does one edit text on the Samsung and on the Evo. By edit I mean having to reposition the cursor to modify, cut, and/or copy a portion of text?

I do a lot of typing on my smart phone and ultimately the best device is going to be the one that allows me to edit text documents and emails.

=X=

How does the Epic compare to the EVO? I am looking to come over from BlackBerry and I want to get the most features and the qwerty keyboard is a plus in the Epic's favor. All I want in an Android phone is the ability to back up everything even down to the Apps. The BlackBerry only backs up the data.

Would the Epic be able to sync with a Mac? That is the only thing that worries me.

Any info on these phones would be much appreciated.

I am wondering why the phone does not go to sleep automatically? Seems like if I put the phone down on my deskm the screen will stay on indefinitely.
