Epic 4G HATES my Ford Sync

So I've had the Samsung Epic for almost a year. Got my Ford 2011 Escape a few months ago, BEFORE the phone update went through. My phone connected to sync every time and never disconnected. My fiance has the EVO and has had the Ford Fusion for over a year. My phone and his phone both connected to his car no problems.
CUE Samsung update. Ever since I have updated my phone my blue tooth will randomly disconnect and won't reconnect until I disable my blue tooth on my phone and then re-enable it. I've gone through 3 phones now and it still won't stay connected. The EVO however connects every time and will never disconnect, ever.
So they issued me a black berry to help with the syncing issue, well now the black berry is having issues with it too but it also could be that it's old as dirt and has it's own issues because it's not a refurbished phone, it was a phone they had that someone had turned in at some point.
So I'm going back to the Epic because I like the phone better than a blackberry but I'm kind of stuck as what to do to help fix my blue tooth/syncing issues.

Any suggestions?
And yes I turn my GPS and my WiFi off when I'm in the car.

Thanks!!

I have tried some ROM's that caused the same issue between my Epic, and my Fusion. The stock EC05 however is solid, and never has any problems connecting. I would reinstall the the stock EC05 (I assume that's what you are using). I know that the Syndicate 1.2 works great, and I have not experienced any connection difficulties.

I have never heard about turning off your GPS and WiFi to be able to connect to Bluetooth. I always run Pandora, and the Navigation at the same time streaming into the Sync, and I never disable the WiFi radio.

I hope that a software upgarde for the Sync might help.
In the meantime, I've had the same experiences that you have and found that if I turn on the bluetooth on the Epic BEFORE I start the car, the sync would usually work well.

I saw this with my BMW iDrive right after the Epic software updates. I was having other issues with the phone, so I did a factory reset. Have not seen it since.

Before I did the update I would just leave the blue tooth on and whenever I turned on the car it would automatically connect to my sync (Like it's supposed to)
Now I've done the update and I have to turn it off and turn it back on to connect and other times it will show that it's still connected but my sync will say that it has disconnected. I think it's a combination of sync and the phone.
I've also had the sprint store do multiple factory resets.
I'm just super frustrated because my fiance's Evo has never had an issue with either of our cars.

If it turns out to be the phone and not the sync, what's my next step?!

Just downloaded an update for my sync so let's hope this works!!!

I have had exactly the same problem with my wife's Ford Flex and her Epic phone. Since the upgrade it connects to sync only occassionally and then disconnects frequently. My Evo connects every time without any problems.

I have seen some say that a hard reset of the phone may solve the problem. Any other suggestions? Maybe we should just switch phones?

I had the exact same issues with my Epic using a Parrot MKi 9100 Bluetooth system. I have finally solved the funky bluetooth issues....BUT you may not like my fix......I installed the stock EF02 rom and then the EF02 plus kernel BUT I'm running the EE03 modem........I have not had a sync issue since ( 2 weeks now ) I leave my BT on all the time and it connects/disconnects properly and NO silent mode thing either.

Im in/out of car allot too.

Well they couldn't fix the issue. I finally posted a tweet referencing my problem and tagged sprint and fail. Within 2 weeks I had a brand new, never out of the box Evo Shift 4g free of charge.
So if any of you are going to go that route, it'll take a few months of *****ing and a few hours of your time, but you'll get a new phone out of it eventually.
