I have the EPic 4G TOuch and recently upgraded to ICS 4.0.4. The one thing that I miss is the usb storage option when plugging into my pc. One of my reasons for loving Android OS is the ability to use the phone as a external hard drive when needed. I read alot of stuff about it isnt available but am now looking for a definitive answer. Is there anyway I can get that function back? I am not rooted and dont want to be. Thank you.

I had the same problem as many others and got this to work again. The problem is that for many the USB Utilities option in ICS is missing entirely so everyone who tells you to point to USB Utilities does not understand your problem.

My phone is Epic 4G Touch running stock Sprint ICS - it is NOT rooted.

You need to temporarily install Kies which has the driver you need. If you have trouble connecting with Kies (as I had), follow the Kies debugging options on-screen which will reinstall Kies. Once you have a successful install and connection with Kies, your phone will show up again as a USB drive on your PC.

You can verify that the driver file is at C:\Program Files\SAMSUNG\USB Drivers\24_flashusbdriver\WIN32 with these files
06/27/2012 04:37 AM 7,692 flashusb.cat
06/27/2012 04:37 AM 4,051 FlashUSB.inf
06/27/2012 04:37 AM 16,384 FlashUsb.sys

In your installed programs list, you will see SAMSUNG Kies, and SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones. At this time you can uninstall Kies again but select the option to retain the device driver.

The Sprint driver file (Sprint_d710_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0.exe) did not work. Find and download Kies from Samsung directly. For the Sprint Epic Touch version, this file is Kies_2.3.3.12085_7_5.exe.
