Epic Slider Getting Loose From Case??

I got my Epic 2 weeks ago and the slider was pretty tight...only a little play when closed. I put a case from Sprint on it right away and have not had it off since. I was going to take my phone back to swap it out because the capacitive buttons aren't working too well and when I took the case off I was surprised to find how loose the slider was when closed now. There is now enough play that it rattles when closed. With the case on it feels pretty much the same as when I got it but it is sloppy with the case off.

I was going to swap it out anyway but I am not sure if I should put the case on the new one. Anyone else with a similar experience?

Hey that's funny because I took my case off yesterday and last night I thought there was more play in the slider. I figured I was just losing it! I have no issues with it right now but I'll wait a few more days to see if it gets worse. If so, I'll take it back for an exchange.

I am guessing that the case puts enough pressure on the mechanism that it has to give a little. Not a problem if it doesn't get looser and you never want to use it without a case. I didn't think of this when I bought the case.

There was an entire thread on the screen wobble... every one has it case or not. The only remedy for it was keeping the case on.

As long as it doesn't get worse the case is an OK fix. I just didn't expect that using a case would require you to always use a case because the case made the wobble worse.

Hmm, well mine is pretty loose without ever using the a case (yet). Not sure how loose yours is...

My wobbles while playing sega and hitting the buttons. When its open the screen rattles when it vibrates. I want to go to sprint and see how the other phones are that have been beat on by everyone else coming in and touching them aggressively.

What cases are these? Is the wobble being caused by one specific kind of case or any case would cause the wobble, Or fix it if its already loose. I wonder if the type or manufacturer of case makes a difference.

I had a case on, but removed it in one day on my old Epic. Something seemed fishy when it was so hard to remove and it required pulling a bit on the slider portion.

I'm so glad someone posted about this.

I stopped using the case because I noticed the tabs that hold the two separate pieces of the case in place are spreading the phone apart.

The tabs are slightly thinner than the average thumb nail -- push yours between the two sections of the phone where the tabs go and you'll see what I'm talking about. The two sections of the phone spread. Not good.

I hate cases. I rarely use them but always buy them. The Epic is a great looking phone. Plus the case makes it way too bulky. I'll take my chances and go case-free.

My slider is nice and tight btw.

I'm the same way. I put a case on it from day 1, and then had to remove it about a week ago to pull the battery (don't ask). Where the phone had been really smooth and tight sliding out, it's now really lose and there is actually enough wobble to it that I had to turn the vibration off on my phone. I need to take it in and exchange it, just haven't had the time yet. I do know that I'll be taking my chance without a case from here on though.

I bought a case, put it on, read this thread, took it off... :( It's not that loose yet, but now I'm worried. I guess I'll return it. I only wanted the case for when I was going jogging anyway.

Really, if that can make it loose, isn't it a problem with the phone? My N900 and TouchPro never got loose from cases.

does the wobble with the case on? If not, then who cares. The case will still protect the phone compared to no case.

There is a slight wobble with the case on...nothing I would worry about. The point is that apparently after you use one of these snap on cases for a short while you are stuck with it because it separates the 2 halves of the phone causing excess play. It is pretty annoying to have my phone rattle when it vibrates.

Right but if you keep the case on it's more solid than the phone without the case, even brand new out of the box.

When would you ever take the case off? The phone handles much better with the case on.

That is true. I have been using my Epic today without the case and although I like the size better it is definitely too slippery for me with no case on it.

I can't believe that people who have used cases, which cased their phone too loosen are going to return it for a problem they themselves caused.

How selfish can you get? This is the reason stores are sold out of phones constantly and others are not able to get one themselves, because selfish people are constantly switching their phone for a new one because "their phone wobbles".

Just leave the case on ppl! Does it bother you knowing that with the case off, your phone wobbles?

You must be kidding!!!!! People buy a case from Sprint and it causes the slider to get loose and it is the fault of the person who bought the case. Interesting thought process, to say the least.
