Eris - A ploy?

how do you get rid of a phone when the volume button does not work nor does the bluetooth?

Maybe complain over at verizon and demand a new phone?

If it were me and I had these problems, I'd call verizon tech support, tell them the issues and let them sort it out. I would think a replacement device is in order here.
 
I had a earpiece propblem and took it to my local Verizon store. They sent me a new one in two days. Problem solved.
 
I would take your Eris to a Verizon store if your having volume issues. I enjoy my Eris the only frustration i had was with youtube videos not working otherwise it has been a solid phone i had thought about switching it out for the Droid but its more bulky and the Eris looks much better in my opinion.
 
UPDATE: Called tech support and had to do factory reset. Then phone would not reactivate!

After an hour it finally did and its all but bricked. Have to go to verizon store at 10am and get my new one. I may just leave it BNIB and get a palm pre plus. Still undecided.......

When the last OTA update came out, my phone had a slough of problems, however, I was able to successfully perform a factory reset and get the phone functioning again. Unfortunately, you have to re-download all of the apps you had in the past - and I have had issues with the one and only paid app I bought (PoliceStream) by it not showing up in my applications, only in my downloads on Market. It is unfortunate when you have to perform an FR, but it does work (usually). Let's just hope whatever version of Android comes out with the update, HTC Sense UI also comes improved in many different ways.
 
Went to store to get new phone and they did not have any so they have to send me one which will take until Tuesday so I will just sell that one and probably pick up a pre plus tomorrow. Still not sure but Verizon has had me chasing my tail for 2 days now. I was supposed to be able to get a phone yesterday. Damn customer support blows these days. Its like there is no communication.

It's good to see your finally catching on!

I used to be like you and emailed companies with questions about my account or their product. I got nothing but canned responses that never answered my question or was just simply ignored. They can't ignore you if you call them on the phone or show up at their business.

Now I'm at the point where my expectations are very low and I'm pleasantly surprised when I get someone that's competent.
