I keep getting errors having to force close my HTC Thunderbolt all the time. Today is my first day using the phone and already am getting upset.

These are the apps I am getting errors on:

Yahoo Messenger: "Sorry! - The application Messenger (process com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.im) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close"

Zedge: "Sorry! - The application Messenger (process net.zedge.android) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close"

I used the Zedge app on my original Moto Droid before my Thunderbolt. I had quite a few issues with the app on the M.Droid, and I'm not going to bother installing it on the Tbolt.

As far as Yahoo Messenger, I'd think that would be a problem on Yahoo's end, unless you have some strange network settings on your Tbolt that Yahoo's messaging application is somehow not set up to check for. Perhaps someone else with the YM app can offer some insight?

On non rooted phones, most force closes are app related. Nothing to do with your phone.

There seem to be a few apps out there (mostly apps using a lot of communication) that are having fits with LTE. I think until they are updated we have to find workarounds.

For IM the TB has a multi-protocol IM already loaded called Mobile IM which seems to work very well. I also tried Palringo IM and it worked correctly.

the yahoo app only works in 3G....so u need to change to that until they fix the LTE problem...

Yep. Thats exactly correct. When I dont plan on using yahoo I put it in 4g while at work. if I want to use yahoo I have to go back to 3g or I get a force close every time I try to use it. Thankfully I only get 4g while at work, or in nyc. While at home I just switch to 3g and it works flawlessly.

So new to all this. Just got the Thunderbolt. How do you turn off the 4g? I'm having problems with IM crashing too. It was working fine til today. I've been using mobile IM to log on.

Zedge works fine on my Bolt.
