ES Disk Analyser deleted a lot of things

I downloaded ES Disk Analyser just to see what was taking so much space on my phone. Lo and behold, it deleted my video folder, another image folder and all my whatsapp images without my permission. I downloaded dr. fone to recover it but my phone isn't rooted; would it be worth rooting my phone or is there another way to recover them?

Welcome to Android Central! Did you use a file manager app to look for those specific directories? Or did you only notice that those images are no longer visible in your gallery app?
