Delivered today! I went with the 2gb version. Where can I find some of the essential apps? Also, whats the best way to display battery percentage?

Nova launcher is quite nice. You can turn off Google now on the home screen and reclaim that space.

OK, here's just a few of the best apps I've found over the years. Apps you might like or that are really useful.* This is the Good Stuff, honest. No crapware in this list. Not gonna touch games - not a gamer. So in no particular order...

AquaMail - if you ever have an urge to try another email app, you gotta try this. The best.

Google Voice - add a second line, yes, a second phone number, to your phone for free. My wife and I have used this for business numbers for years, it's terrific. Keep your actual cellphone number private. More than just a second number, Google Voice can do lotsa stuff a ordinary cell connection can't.

Google Voice - the app, does visual voicemail, etc.

Voice Choice - automate how Google Voice dials certain people or groups. Very cool app if you use Google Voice.

Nova Launcher - There's dozens of launchers but none are better than Nova. Fast, stable, it kills. Really a must-have.

Firefox - my go-to browser.

Some Utilities:

Gotta have a good file manager. Here's 2 to choose from:

X-Plore - the best. But the 2-panel UI takes some getting used to. Free and no ads. Add access to cloud storage, networking etc for a small charge.

FX File Explorer - also very good and you might like the UI better than X-plore.

FX Plus adds access to cloud storage, networking, etc.

Clipper - super-handy clipboard utility. Clipper+ is a nice upgrade.

Google Drive - you have 15GB free storage on Google Drive included with your Google account. You might as well have access to it.

And to sync files between your PC and Drive:

System Panel - gives a lot of good information about what's going on with the phone. The free version is good.

WiFi Analyzer - analyze your WiFi network so you can setup your router to use the strongest channels with the least interference. Maximize speed of everything that connects to your WiFi.

Network Connections - utility that lists all the connections the phone is making to the internet. You will be amazed. Tap on a connection for more information, including a map. Cool just to fool around with and can be very useful too.

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...id=com.antispycell.connmonitor&token=fgKO6OgK

OS Monitor - similar to Network Connections above. An alternative, some difference in functions.

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...tails?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&token=C7antSbM

PortDroid - another utility that can be useful but is kinda fun just to fool around with. Traceroute is cool, will show a map of where your connection goes to reach its destination. Amazing to see the crazy routes and number of hops it takes to reach a destination.

LTE Discovery - Good mobile network utility.

Backup Utilities:

MyBackup Pro - one of the first Android apps, tried and true. No PC needed.

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...om.rerware.android.MyBackupPro&token=DNsUcrlw

Helium - another very good backup utility. Can backup more stuff than MyBackup, but it requires a PC.

Advanced Call Blocker - nice if you have trouble with junk calls or texts.

Other stuff:

TheScore - I just like this. But it does have ads.

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ils?id=com.fivemobile.thescore&token=hAAfFdBa

Relay - Reddit is cool.

Android since v1.0. Linux since 2001
