Essential for $450 at Best Buy...

It is making it hard not to buy this device. I wish I knew what the sales were going to be for Black Friday weekend. I got a Google pixel last year for only $10 a month for 24 months so 240 total.

Was at BB today and saw this! Knew it dropped to $500 last week but the additional $50 off just made me impulse buy it. I threw in another $30 item to hit the 18 month/0% financing.

Best Buy dropping the price means nothing. They run xx number of products each week that get the prices dropped. I think the drops run Sunday - Saturday. Then next week a new round of items get cut,

I mean it could very well be an assessment of products not selling well..but, It doesn't mean it's a bad phone. It's an unknown company and got pretty bad press. I also noticed that it's sitting in the unlocked section next to other phones that cost $100- $250.. that doesn't help

I think I have to buy one at this price point. Seems like a well built phone with superior materials. I know it's missing a few nice to have features, but dang, $450 for a high end spec phone is compelling.

Just ordered it - picking up tomorrow. I have wanted the Essential phone since pictures first showed up - can't say no to this price!

I think it's going to get some pressure soon from the new Oneplus 5t and used 5's.

Not for those on Sprint or Verizon.. this is the best bang for the buck and unlocked bootloader.. even though im a longtime amoled lover from what i have seen this display looks better than the pixel 2 xl...

Amazon is crazy. Last night they had the white version at $449 i guess to match Best Buy but listed as "out of stock". Today it's at $660 with "7 left in stock". Black has been out of stock for days. So because they're selling good at $499 Amazon raises the price. Wow I guess they think people are very dumb

With Amazon you have to look at who is selling. I assume what you are seeing is 3rd party seller prices. If it does not say ships and sold by Amazon then it's a 3rd party seller and they can set their prices to whatever they want.

I got my hands on a friends and family code so I could get one for 299. Before making the investment I went down to a Sprint store to see one in person. The guy who greeted me happened to be a knowledgeable XDA type. I told him I currently use a OnePlus 5 and that I have access to F&F. He was pretty honest in saying, if I was coming from an older device and could get the Essential for 299 it'd be a great deal. He the said the Essential has a great display but OnePlus beats it in the camera department. He basically said don't replace your OP5 with a PH1.

I'm not really that concerned over the $50 and it's more the point.

They won't or can't cancel which is a waste of their resources to tie up customer service with an unneeded return. They will also waste their cost to ship to me and then to ship back to them after I refuse it.

Add to that, mine has been 'Processing' since Thursday so I don't buy that it's already on the way. As a small startup then one thing that they could have going for them would be above and beyond customer service. They don't. I understand them not price matching BUT they could have offered something to make up the difference. A coupon code that I could use later to buy forthcoming accessories, something...

It is what it is but I don't see this company making long term with this type of service and support.

I more than likely will just eat the $50 difference and let the order ride and arrive but it has left a bad taste in my mouth...

Are you being charged taxes with Essential? I live in Texas so I paid the flat $499 shipped directly to me. if I could go to best buy with Tax it's going to be $488 so not as big a deal. Heck even the $50 isn't that big of a deal when you consider the cost of other phones. I returned my $1,000+ Pixel 2 XL so $499 out the door is a steal for this phone.

and yeah Essentials customer service is not that great. I tried to cancel my online order when Best Buy had one in stock. They said it was already processed even though I didn't receive tracking for another 2 days. I was cool with paying the extra $40 in taxes in Texas to get it from Best Buy quicker. was still almost exactly half the cost of the Pixel 2 XL. and so far I absolutely love this phone. Camera isn't all that bad. It's still a little on the slow side and I am sure it doesn't take as good a picture as the Pixel phones do but from my week plus of use it takes plenty good enough pictures for my use.

Yes mine was like $536 with CA sales tax.. Still nothing here as its the same status since I ordered it Thursday --> Processing..

About to give up and snag something else then just refuse delivery.

As long as you don't open it they will send you a prepaid return package and you can send it back to them for a full credit. if it's been opened they charge a $35 restocking fee. Don't refuse it though. I said the same thing and they told me it could get lost because the return address is the corp headquarters in Palo Alto and the return address on the label for me was in Smyrna, TN. So just sign for it and ask for an RMA and get the return package if you are returning it.
