Not essential...it is a CDMA variant though and it works great. Should work for sprint as well I think. Are you saying you have a Essential phone?

That's what I'm afraid of. I want to buy a Essential phone but I'm not sure Verizon will treat it fairly. Just have to wait and see what happens when they hit the market.
WiFi Calling is baked into Android. It's no longer a per-carrier feature like the old days. Even the KEYone supports it out of the box and most carriers couldn't care less about BlackBerry these days. My KEYone worked with WFC no problem.
It's too early to say how the PH-1 will be accepted by Verizon, but this solution worked for KEYone users: https://forums.crackberry.com/black...rizon-wireless-what-you-need-know-do-1111888/ Note that the thread was updated with new info, so many of the posts are in reply to the original.
I use T-Mobile, not Verizon, and WFC and VoLTE both worked perfectly. My point was that it's baked into Android and up to the carrier to allow that device to use it on the network. As of a few years ago T-Mobile no longer restricts devices. AT&T is decent but they require registration on their end to make it happen. Verizon might be more restrictive given what people keep saying about WFC not working out of the box (see linked thread for a potential workaround). But, regardless of carrier, WFC is in the OS already and therefore the carrier's fault if it doesn't work. How did you get your KEYone to work with WiFi calling on Verizon? This is the one thing I'm missing on mine and it is a huge hindrance for me while at work where service is poor.
