Hi all!

I want to turn off wifi and not use it any longer. I have a Umidigi Bison GT. After watching a bunch of youtube videos on how to do this, I purchased a ethernet adapter and USB to c connector. I cannot get the phone to work off the ethernet. I tried a thumb drive off the usb to c connector and it works without a problem.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work? Is there a app that I can download to get this to work?

Thanks so much.

Not all phones (especially budget and off-brand ones) support Ethernet over USB, so you'd have to check that first for your specific device. Additionally, check that the USB-C adapter you bought also works correctly for Ethernet on mobile devices (most times a 'dedicated' Ethernet-to-USB adapter is needed as 'hubs' with other ports will not).

How would I check to make sure that the adapter works with a phone. I got a Gigabit Ethernet Adapter with USB 3.0. I tested the USB to c with a thumb drive and that worked fine.

A search shows that Goggle's AI search believes it is possible to get internet to this device with an adaptor.

To connect a UMIDIGI Bison GT to the internet over an Ethernet connection, you can use an adapter:
  1. Buy the right adapter. For example, most Android devices need a USB-C-to-Ethernet adapter, while older Android phones and tablets need a micro USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
  2. Place your finger on the touch ID sensor for about a second.
  3. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WI-FI.
Ethernet provides a secure, stable, and fast wired connection to the internet and between devices. However, the wrong type of Ethernet cable or a damaged cable can slow down your connection. For example, you should not use a CAT 5 cable if your internet connection is 200 Mbps or faster.

Not sure how much I trust the AI yet. This search brought up several other articles and threads about this device and connections to the internet in different ways. I'll link the results here.

May we ask why you no longer want to use WiFi on this device if it is currently working for you? Feels like a case of, if it ain't broke don't fix it, considering there ae no additional service fees for WiFi vs a cabled connection. Just curious.

Let us know what you find.
