Every browser icon on my phone (LG40 Thin) redirects to google play - privacy browser

[Android Central Question]

As stated, every browser icon on my phone: brave, Chrome, Edge, Internet... ALL redirect to a google play page to download "Privacy Browser -Private, incognito, fast browser." It shows it's from the "Android Does Team". I've been running Apex Launcher for years now, also from Android Does Team, and have never had a problem like this.

The only way I can get away from it is to go to about Google Play and manually enter an address.

This has been happening for a few days now, and I've went to all browsers and removed cache data... but no joy. Running Android version 9.

I've got malwarebytes and have scanned using it and nothing.

This will be down to an app you have downloaded. There is no easy way to identify which app is the problem other than trial and error

Well, I kinda figured out that much myself. The question is, now what? To the best of my knowledge, I haven't downloaded any apps recently.

Did you try Safe Mode in your attempts to fix the problem?

Yes..,. and here's what I just discovered. Since it was an "Android Does Team page (Apex Launcher guys) and I use apex, I thought I'd try a different launcher... and that resolved the problem. I switched to smart launcher and that resolved the issue.

Wow, that's terrible behavior for a launcher! I'd give some strongly-worded feedback to the Apex devs and avoid it from now on.
