Everything is getting an update but the EVO 4G

Why are you complaining???

The EVO has probably the most custom ROMs available for it than any other phone. You want an update, go install one of the many Gingerbread ROMs. Besides, there is an official update coming soon!

Not everyone does custom Roms. I used to be that way, always flashing and modding, but anymore, the time I would of spent with techie stuff like this is better spent elsewhere. So yeah, we'd like to see Gingerbread on a phone that should of had it months ago. :)

The problem is that the average Joe does not know what Gingerbread is nor do they care if it's ever pushed to the Evo. It's the techie crowd that knows what it is and wants it. If you want it that bad then root and flash a stable ROM an be done with it.

I've had the Evo since the week it came out. I remember how crazy people were before 2.2 came out, and i remember how "disappointed" people were when it finally came out. The most classic line --> "It looks the same". lol...

Going from Froyo to Gingerbread will just as it was going from Eclair to Froyo. You wont *see* many differences, but it will be a reasonable upgrade. JIT was the biggest upgrade from Eclair to Froyo, but besides that it was a lot of under the hood type of stuff. Gingerbread is certainly awesome, but again you're not gonna *see* anything much different than what you have now. Just sit tight guys. With them releasing the Evo 3D you cant expect them to put out the GB update for the OG before its released. Its a business decision. Agree with it or not, it is what it is. You can always root and go Cyanogen which I can guarantee you will blow away the official GB anyway.

Idk, guess Im different than most.....Ive had my evo since launch day and I still love it!

I don't think there was any expectation for an update to hit prior to the EVO 3D release, but since EVOs are now being sold with 2.3 on them it has most of us wondering where's our update? Of course, I am rooted and have been running 2.3 for a while now, but I would like to see how the official ROM stacks up to all the other ported ROMs.

For me the EVO is still at the very top of the Android smartphone pile.

None of the 'newer' phones offer any real advantage over the EVO for 99.9% of users. Dual core? Great but all of my apps run as fast as I can interact with them already! 3D photos? That is so 1980s. Dual screens? Uhhh, no thanks.

Now, if they made the EVO EBL (extended battery life) phone that is just like the EVO with 2x the battery life in the same form factor then I would get excited!!!

I got the technical know how to root, but like I said, it's still kind of risky and it's hard enough as it is to get Sprint to replace a phone.

And then you have to go back to stock if you want to upgrade to the next silly food name from Google.

Honestly though, what's the point in rooting other than for tethering apps and ridding a phone from crapware?

You're not going to brick an Evo unless you try to brick it. I rooted mine about 15 minutes ago, and it took about 15 minutes to do it. I did it just to remove the bloatware because it was bugging me. Phone even runs better now. I'll drop my root in a little bit when I finish with the boards.

Get ready for that reasonable Gingerbread upgrade. It starts on Friday if you manually check and automatically by next Monday if you don't manually check it before Monday (Just click yes).

Good, being as its an HTC update, it shouldn't come with the bloatware...Rooted, removed bloatware, unrooted, click "no" to the Gingerbread update....couldn't be happier. (unless someone gives me a Sensation, 3VO, or Atrix 4G)
