Evo 3D freezing on unlock

I absolutely love this phone, but I'm having a couple of issues that are very problematic.

My phone will randomly freeze up and become completely unresponsive. I have to pull the battery in order to restart the phone. This occurs most frequently when removing my phone from my pocket and pressing the power button to unlock it; although, it happens in other cases as well.

Usually, once it goes wrong once, it will lock up several times in short order. Maybe 2-3 times in a 30 minute period.

Also, many time my Swype starts behaving strange. Even when I check the box to show the trace, it won't show up. It also sometimes gets stuck displaying capital letters even when using lower case. Just changing the input to another keyboard and switching it back fixes the issue, but I'm not sure if they are related in any way.

I took the phone into the Sprint store, and (of course) I could not replicate the error with someone watching. They did a full reset of the phone; however, I'm still having the same problem.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is there any possibility this is a hardware issue?

I have had similar things happen to my 3D. Random reboots and freezing. It happens often when its in my pocket, even once while I was browsing. Once it starts it just continues for an extended time. The only solution I've found is to pull the battery but that's only temporary until it randomly starts again in a few hours or so. I wish HTC would adress this. This is an awesome phone, this issue is really frustrating.

I think we need to start a support group. It is seriously driving me crazy.

I saw this article about doing a complete reset of the firmware which looks really promising. I'll try it tonight and report my results.
