So both IGN's review of the E4GLTE and now the HTC Web Site list the EVO as having an IPS screen vs. the One X's Super LCD 2. If they were the same type of screen I would think that HTC would list them as such. IGN said there is a visible difference with the One X's SLCD2 having darker blacks and higher color saturation while the IPS of the E4GLTE as being brighter and more visible outdoors.

Phil would you care to comment? Since you are one of the few people that have both phones (and may be one of the few for for a while if Apple's import injunction lasts).

This has been covered over and over in various places around here on Android Central and others. As Love Divine says, they are the same screen. One is HTC's wording and the other is Sprint's wording.

Why does the HTC Site list them differently then? If you do a comparison between the One X and the E4GLTE on their site it lists the One X as SLCD2 and the E4GLTE as IPS.

I agree...why would the site compare the two as having two different screens??

Here's a screen capture from HTC's site to illustrate what I am taking about. I am not saying the One X and the E4GLTE screens are different technology but the HTC site isn't helping...

You're right, it doesn't help that HTC's site is not showing the same info for both phones. You should also notice that while we all know the One X has a "Super LCD2" screen, their site only says "Super LCD."

Now, if you look at the spec listings from AT&T and Sprint...

They both also only mention "Super LCD" and not "Super LCD2." Doesn't mean that they're not, however. (Disclosure: I had to cut out many of the spec listings from the AT&T screencap to show only the information relevant to us, and not take up too much space. The actual site looks slightly different.)

IPS is another tech term for super lcd 2

No it's not. My ThinkPad X220T has an IPS display. It simply means in-plane switching.

From Wikipedia:
The name In-Plane Switching comes from the crystals in the cells of the IPS panel always lying in the same plane and always being parallel to the plane of the panel.

OK let me clear this up for some people

LCD is liquid crystal technology. as in it is what the screen is made from. so super lcd2 is just a brand name like the retina display. IPS is a form of lcd technology instead of being TN or something else.

Basically IPS is always the best in monitors for computers for color reproduction and being able to view it perfectly from any angle.

So the one x and evo are Super LCD2 IPS displays. Ign is just stupid

The phone can't be IPS or LCD or LCD2 because I heard it was Gorilla Glass 2!

:p

The screen is fine... it's the same internals as the One X, including the screen.

Everybody quit being paranoid. Haha :p
