OK, I'm confused with his the airwaves works with my evo. If I have wifi off will it actually work with the evo or will it automatically try to connect to a 3g data enabled connection.

If I have wifi on all the time will it drain the battery faster?

Airave uses your broadband connection to allow voice communications over your broadband using CDMA. It's a Femtocell.

The EVO uses WiFi for data only. You can use 3G or 4G for data as well as WiFi, but voice is a different protocol completely.

The work-around to using WiFi for voice without an Airave would be to use Google Voice which uses the data network. This is handy when you're not at home (if you have an Airave) or in an area with poor CDMA but good 3G or 4G reception (which has happened to me before).

It will still work with the EVO. Airave doesn't do 3G so if you have a good enough 3G signal it will try to connect to that, but keep in mind if you have full bars with the 3G symbol that doesn't mean you have full 3G signal. I know it's confusing. Keep WIFI on if you have it, you'll get faster data and save some battery. WIFI is more efficient than 3G.

If you have zero access to 3g, the data drops to 1X over the airave. It cannot give you 3g access.
