Hi all,
Just got my EVO yesteday and logged into my google account which has GV. I am able to access my mail and marketplace etc. I DL the GV app and set it up however when I attempt to make a call it shows the phone dialing then I get an message saying it is unable to complete the call. I also got an error when setting up VM. Any ideas?
I googled the issue and only found one article that was related but it wasnt very clear.
Its this one here.
Does Sprint Limit Using Google Voice? | CloudAve

Can anyone help please?
Thanks

I have google voice set up on my EVO and it has been working find since day one. Maybe delete and install again the google voice app to see if it would correct the problem you've been having. From withing the GV app go to menu and check your settings

Working fine here as well. Do you have it set to make every outbound call?

When you setup the VM you have to use the dial code provided by google to fwd your voicemail pickup to the GV #, instead of using the app to auto-configure it.

Mine is working fine on my EVO also but i did notice when setting it up on the phone, it was saying some sort of error would happen if you tried making it the primary voicemail system on the phone because sprint/htc had a voicemail system set up on the phone already, i did not read it all i just hit cancel because i like sprint/htcs voicemail on the phone.

I think that error was stating it couldn't automatically configure Google Voice Voicemail and you need to use the dial code.

Sprint does not block or limit Google Voice in any way that I am aware of. I've added my GV number and the GV redirect number to my Pick 3 and don't use any minutes when using Google Voice as well.

Pick 3? - In your experience do you always have the same GV re-direct #?

Its strange it seems to be setup right however when I go to make a call with google voice it just says unable to complete this call.
I am not sure what I am going incorrectly. I tried uninstalling the app then reinstalling it. It's strange because it goes to dial the number then gives the message.

I have not checked it lately but on my call log before I added to my Pick 3 it was the same every time. My minute usage is so low now that I don't even check my call log anymore.

I can receive incoming calls and if i press 1 on the phone to dial my voicemail it dials google voice and tells me to state my name and it will try to reach me.

Did you get a new phone #? Did you activate at google.com/voice if you did? When calling from a # that GV knows about, it should prompt you to login to your mailbox.

Can't even open GV at this point. Keep getting message that the process system has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. So as of right now I can't open the app. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it once already.

Any suggestions????

Reboot the phone?

I actually am blocking my number at the sprint level.
I have kept the same number. I have just been slowly phasing out using it and only using my google voice number.

Then GV won't work 100%, it needs to read your caller ID so it knows how to process your call when you connect to it's switch. It knows where to place your call based on who you are.

I thought that may have been what it was. Soon as I saw your post. I took a break form work and called Sprint. Had them remove the caller ID block. It seems to work now. Thanks for all the help!

@Itoao as a solution to your blocked number issue.

I have been phasing out my sprint number on my EVO by:
Setting up google voice to be used for all calls
Not forwarding my Sprint number to google voice(set up the voicemail to tell everyone my GV number and to call back on it)
Set up GV online to use my google voice number as the caller ID with call screening activated
Set up GV(Online Site)>Sipgate(Online Site)>CSipSimple(Market App) and GVoice Callback (for use on wifi only)
Set up Call Block(Market App) to block all calls that aren't my GV number but not text messages.
Then I set up Text Answering Machine (Free) (Market App) to auto-reply to all text messages, does not include GV messages, my new number.

Works well, I have the notifications on that tell me when things were auto-replied to and blocked by Call Block so I can call them back or text them on my GV number if they haven't reached me after a little bit.

Can you explain the Sipgate part please? What does that allow? Looks interesting.
