EVO and Swype

Swype isn't on the Market, but ShapeWriter is. I LOVE ShapeWriter.. and it's FREE.

When typing a word, you can then tap on "case" to change capitalization, ie, "word", "Word", "WORD"... it cycles through. You barely have to get the word right and ShapeWriter figures it out - also, you have other words to choose from if the word you're using doesn't come up immediately. And of course, you can add words to the custom dictionary. It's everything I need, I'm not sure how Swype would be any better?

PS, just watched a video on the two and you don't have to press the spacebar on ShapeWriter. I was FLYING on it on my iPod touch (practicing!) - it's really fun to use. lol

But if it uses predictive text, it won't work for me as I type in two other languages too.

Bummer.

Does it work for SMS on Android? I downloaded the Shapewriter Pro for iPhone yesterday to test it out and it only works with email and notes. :(

I'm going to assume it does work with all text entry fields - yes, I have it on iPod touch and it only works as cut/paste - but apparently, that's the beauty of Android, since it's an Open OS, I think they have more freedoms. I expect it to replace the keyboard in all apps....... someone correct me if I'm wrong....

How did you like it on iPhone? It's pretty flipping sweet isn't it??

Yea it was pretty cool. Did the copy n paste to sms a few times but it got annoying going back n forth. I've only used swype for 5min on an HD2, so i need more time with both apps to test.

Love Swype! Changed my viewpoint on needing a physical keyboard, which was one of the reasons I got the Palm Pre. Only limitations I need a fix for are voice input and a CTRL key for the terminal app.

Has anyone put the (After Beta closed) .APK file on their SD card and try to see if it'll run on the EVO yet?

Awesome. Let me know which file name it was you used as well if you could and if it works as soon as i get to my comp, it'ssss onnnn!

Swype on EVO needs an update

For those of you using it....it doesn't work with the EVO's screen size at this point, so don't beat yourself up trying to get it installed. Just an FYI..

Lovin' the phone!!!

Didn't work...atleast the one techiegirl posted. If you google that exact file, it says uploaded May 15, so it's fairly new release. Anyways, it installed and everything was going fine til i went to choose input method(swype) I got the msg that this version of swype is not compatible with the screen size :(

Anyone have a newer apk or someone who is in the beta, tell us if their version works on the EvO??

doesn't work on evo (yet) states it can't support the screen size. So sad............

I'm actually on Evo beta, but when I tried to download Swype from my phone, it says my phone is not supported. The version that I have saved in my SD card from my N1 days is working though.

Damn, well if anyone finds and file please post and let us all know and thanks again for checking.

i have swype working i downloaded a version for the incredible google it. i wuld upload it but it is alittle over 2 mb so it wont let me

You have to uninstall Swype and delete the installer from the phone. Then sign into your swype beta account and resend your invitation.

I worked with the Swype folks all afternoon trying to get it to work, after sending error logs back and forth we finally got it working on the EVO.
