Evo battery isnt that bad. screens inside...

whoa. thats no good, have you tried some of the sync stuff and mobile network romaing option?

WOW... I took mine off the charger at 7:30 this morning... it's 4:30 and I have 80% battery life left... Up time is 8 hours 44 minutes, Awake time is 2 hours 9 minutes. I have ATK installed and force close a lot of Apps specially the Sprint install navigation, Sprint TV, Qik seems to start back up every few hours even after you kill it, Sprint NASCAR.... For today I turned off the GPS and I actually have my screen brightness set to low and only turn it up when I am in need of the extra light. It's basically two swipes and the touch to turn it up and down. 4G is off, GPS is off, WiFi is off..... Only about 45 minutes of web, no pictures or uploading of pictures, a few checks of Facebook, 20 - 30 text messages and use of the Speedtest.net app while I was out and about today. I have e-mail and Facebook set to hourly sync during peak hours.....

I got 26 hours from my first charge (Friday to Saturday) and about 14 hours on Sunday.... Sunday was pretty heavy use and a lot of WiFi use.... Saturday was mostly setting up the device and checking a few things on the web and testing out the camera.

Did get my 1750 mAh battery just a few minutes ago from the FedEx guy. Going to charge it up overnight and see how she holds up but so far with the stock battery and a few minor adjustments this phone should easily make it all day and night on a single charge with typical every day use.... I have found the battery to last about as long as the battery on my Nexus One did.. 8am until 11 at night and still 20% battery left with moderate use...

I unplugged mine at 7:30am, fully charged. By noon, it had dropped to 5% and was threatening to shut down.

Wifi off, bluetooth off, basically zero web usage.

Four and a half hours can't be normal right? I'm going to charge it back up to 100% and try it again. If it only lasts 5 hours again, I'll try to see if Sprint will swap out my battery.

@eKennedy, Make sure the phone is powered completely off before you charge it. Some times when it's physically on the phone will indicate it's fully charged but it's not. I unplugged mine at 7:30 and it's not 5:30 and I still have 70% battery life left.

I also have the battery draining faster to 70%, then normal draining to about 40%, and then the rest 40% lasts very long. Very strange. Maybe Android doesn't estimate correctly amount of battery life left after the first couple of charges. Maybe we need to led it drain completely and then again charge completely (powered off - i heard the trick). I freaked out at first at 40% in the middle of the day and put it back to recharge. It recharged to full in like 30 minutes or an hour. and then I could never drain it past 30% till the end of the day, even though i tried.

I also have this problem as well. I think there is something wrong wit the calibration.

I'm on my second charge and already down to 40% n it came off the charger at 2:30. I luv the Evo but this battery is huge issue.

Some of these battery saving suggestions seems pointless. Turn off everything and then its okay? Turn your phone off while charging? So basically.... dont use any features... and in addition once your batter dies in 5 hours, turn the phone off so you can't be contacted while you wait for the battery to charge... and repeat cycle 3 or 4 times a day?

@AldousSnow

Even the manual tells you to charge the battery fully before you ever turn the device on. So far my battery has lasted me all day and into the night with out fail. I turned mine on this morning at 7:30 and 11 hours later I am still at 70% battery life. 10 hours 40 minutes up time and 2 hours 50 minutes awake or in use time. I power mine off at night while I sleep and the phone charges so I am not missing much since I am sleeping. If I have to charge the phone midday I am not going to power the device off to charge. Most of these suggestions are just for conditioning the battery/phone to get the best life out of the phone. With Lithium based phones they recommend you run it bone dry once every 30 charging cycles. Another thing about lithium based batteries is they typically don't get best life until after 3 - 4 charges and discharges...

Strange some of these horror stories on battery life. I was really worried battery life was going to be a major problem when I preordered my phone and started reading the reviews but so far after just 4 days I am EASILY getting through my day with out having to recharge and this with pretty steady use getting to know my phone and it's features.

I think you're reading the wrong posts. Some people here have claimed to have auto-killed only useless apps that keep turning themselves on such as SPRINT Navigation, Qik, etc, and have gotten significantly improved battery life.

Personally, I have been getting over a day's worth of battery life using the phone as intensely as all my other phones. That's awesome!

Yes I am running an App killer to close out useless apps that are running in the background.
